01, 2017 Artist Talk with Leslie Giuliani and Peter Massini
FEBRUARY 4 AT 4 PM, WITH A SNOW DATE OF FEBRUARY 5
Mixed media artist Leslie Giuliani and aerial photographer Peter Massini, whose exhibits continue through February 28 at The Lionheart Gallery in Pound Ridge, N.Y., will give artist talks at the gallery.
In Coded Narratives, Weston, Conn., artist Leslie Giuliani presents improvisational embroidered encaustic paintings that use a stylized visual language to present mysterious narratives. The strong, bold works may be most notable for Giuliani’s process. The artist works on Encaustiflex, a microfiber material, and begins by painting and monoprinting geometric pieces with encaustic paint.
Peter Massini’s exhibit of fine art photographs, entitled
Altitude, features large-format, acrylic-faced digital imagesof cityscapes and infrastructure, with a focus on defining geometry and patterns. “I think we use patterns to provide some sort of order in a world of disorder,” says Massini, who maintains a studio in Norwalk. “I believe a lot of art, music, science and math is an arrangement of patterns made to help us with our need for organization, amusement, and the need to learn.”
The Lionheart Gallery is open Wednesday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. For more information and directions to the gallery at 27 Westchester Avenue in Pound Ridge, N.Y., visit http://www.thelionheartgallery.com or call the gallery at 914.764.8689.
